Swim Meet Tips of the trade for new Swimmers!

LHSC enters many different types of meets, so it is important to stay up to date on the information the Team puts out. We will post information on the Team bulletin boards, on the Team website, and through handouts. Don’t hesitate to e-mail any questions you may have. lhsccoaches@comcast.net

Be Early
Swim meets can be confusing, it’s best to arrive about 15-20 minutes before warm ups begin. This will give you time to check in, find the Team area, change into your suit and get behind the blocks for warm up.

Positive Check-in
This simply means that Swimmers will high light their names and events to swim that day before entering the pool deck.

Warm-up
All Swimmers will do a Team warm up. This is designed to prepare Swimmers for competition.

Team Area
Swimmers should sit together with their Coaches during competitions. This is generally on deck.

Food and Drinks, Caps and Clothes
Swimmers should bring healthy snacks, water and/or Gatorade with them to meets.
TEAM SUIT, CAPS AND T-SHIRTS SHOULD BE WORN AT ALL MEETS!!!

Heat Sheets and Lane Assignments
After positive check-in, the host team will supply a heat sheet for the meet. This will tell Swimmers their heat and lane assignments for each event. These will be posted in around the pool deck and be given to your Coaches. At many meets, if you miss an event you will be scratched from the next event.
